After 6 month Internship, Koogar offered Lawrence a poisition in the Team!
After a really exciting and insightful period of work experience, within which I feel I have learnt lots, developed my skills and complimented my learning… yesterday was my first day as an employee at Koogar.
I feel this industry experience has made my masters much more valuable, as it is has made me recognise the important differences between theory and practise. It has also given me great insight into how an integrated marketing agency operates, and the role different members have to play within the business.
I will be continuing in my role as a marketing assistant, and thus I will still be supporting Amanda and the Koogar Team in a range of different tasks, both in relation to marketing for clients, and marketing the company brand. This will include further developing my blogging, social media and video skills, which are essential for all marketers.
I will also be aiding Amanda in the launch of a number of newly developed concepts and ideas for the business, including online courses. I have been heavily involved in the development of these courses, and am excited for them to be released in the next few weeks. They will be really helpful both for business owners and marketing managers, as they outline step-by-step processes which can be followed to effectively answer some of the most frequently asked questions in marketing. But, they don’t just answer them, they educate the reader on how these processes function and integrate together, while also supplying them with the tools to effectively tackle the problem they are facing.
Overall I feel there are a number of exciting projects currently underway and on the horizon, and I am really excited to have started, and to be one of the Team!
Amanda says…
“Please welcome Lawrence to the Koogar Team… He has a friendly manner, fun to work with and also KNOWS his stuff! Lawrence is an amazing addition to our Team and we are very much looking forward to showing you the new projects Lawrence has mentioned as and when they complete. They WILL take you to the next level in marketing. Keep your eyes open!”

“I attended a talk with Amanda at a Forward Ladies event. I didn’t expect to learn much, as I’ve been learning about social media as a businesswoman with a largely online business for years. I was expecting “more of the same”. I was wrong – Amanda seriously knows her stuff. I was so impressed by the depth of her knowledge and her professionalism. I left the workshop feeling that I had met someone I could recommend to my own clients who often ask me about website services. This woman conveys a high comfort factor – the impression I got was that I would be in safe hands if I handed my website or social media strategy over to Koogar. She’s now a name that is firmly in my virtual Rolodex!” Amanda Alexander – Courage and Confidence for Talented Women
“I attended Amanda’s Future of Social workshop at the recent North West Women’s Enterprise Day. The workshop was recommended to me by someone who had attended Amanda’s earlier session. I’m really glad I went! Amanda has a professional yet authentic delivery style and shared some valuable and thought-provoking pointers. Clearly a leader in her field.” Jane Washington – Management and Business Consultant (Congleton)
I thought I would share our reviews and reflections for 2015…
Personal Goal: Rowing
At the end of 2014 I was determined to do something I have always wanted to do which was Rowing as a team sport. Rowing on The Dee in Chester specifically and this year I have been in a brilliant squad, raced a few times, got fit, made some new friends and am having a great time!
If you’ve always wanted to do something don’t put it off! Get on and do it, even tell a friend so they can spur you on when you need it.
I’m proud to say I’m in the Novice Women’s Grosvenor Rowing Club Squad and my intention is to race at Henley in 2016!
Business Goal: To understand what we are really good at!
In marketing we (as businesses) are consistently trying to stand out amongst others so that customers pick us.
It’s very difficult to know why you are different, what your USP (Unique Selling Point/Proposition) is and I think we have finally found it and we’ve written a page on it called “What is Koogar’s Genius?”
Let us know what you think!
Films: Everest and Meru
As many of you know I’m a bit of a film buff! Love them, can’t get enough to be honest and I think the film of the year for me is going to have to be Everest and this is down to mind set and how that team just kept going when things got REALLY tough!
Everest then lead me on to find out about a film called “Meru” – Meru is the ultimate mountain to be climbed. I watched this Documentary Film to see what their mindset was like as this was filmed as they climbed the mountain NO CGI or special effects!
And one of the final lines from the 3rd team member was “I just have to do it!“
Book(s)
One of my goals for 2015 was to read more and by reading more I discovered I’m better at listening so I now have an account with Audible and I have listened to a number of books:
The Chimp Paradox– which is about how your brain works and why you think the things you do
Blink– which is about thin slicing and looking into peoples behaviour
The Big Leap– which is about your Genius, what is it you REALLY love to do and you are good at
Happy New Year to you!
I’d love to hear about your reviews and reflections of 2015 so please feel free to comment below on this post and let us know what you have achieved and what you hope to achieve for 2016!
Reviewing where you have been, what you want for the future and the changes you are going to put in place.
Reflecting on what we have done in this last year, the decisions we have made (good and bad) and the people we have met.
This isn’t just about business, this is personal too!
It’s the time of year were we are all MORE THAN READY for this break; stepping away from the computer, colleagues, not thinking about our next contract, way of marketing a new product or who we need to follow up.
It’s that time of year to down tools and forget for a little while about what we do every single day.
Here are 5 reasons why Christmas will change your life…
you now have a little time to yourself (and with family)
you are away from your daily tasks at work
no more emails for a few days (at the very least)
or phone interruptions
and social media pinging in the background
…so you are now able to REVIEW and REFLECT this past year and plan the year ahead.
For the next few days you won’t be thinking about it consciously but unconsciously and it is this time we start thinking big again! Which I think is rather exciting! Don’t you?
Let Every Day Be Christmas
Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself.
…by Norman W. Brooks
