Marketing Tip #14: Know the value of your product

Your competitors might be using price to sell their product/service, but this does not mean you have to as well and sell your services for less than your competitors (as this may see you lose out in the long run).

By researching your target audience you will become aware of the areas that are important to them when considering a purchase such as including a guarantee or being environmentally friendly and so on.

Therefore, you can market your product in a different way to your competitors and not lose out in terms of profit as you are adding value to your product/service.

Here at Koogar we have recently evaluated our prices as we know what our service is worth.  We don’t believe in just making you a web site or logo and so on.  With know what benefits our services can bring to a company and so tell our clients so they know exactly what our prices reflect.

So, do you know the value of your product…?

Marketing Tip #13: Upgrade and refresh the look of your marketing

By changing the look of your marketing you maintain a client’s interest  in your business.  Whether it be leaflets or websites keep them simple but creative to re-vamp your style.

We updated the look of our web site in January of this year.  There was nothing wrong with the previous look, but after four years services change and so do your expectations of your business and your marketing.  Remember that marketing, just like a web site, is a working document that should be changed with the times.

So what could your marketing benefit from?

Marketing Tip #12: Easier to sell or promote to the avoidance of paying than the gaining of pleasure

It’s sad, but true!  We have to pay for everything in this world; food, water, electricity, council tax and the list goes on and on and on…

So if you’re offered a free trial you’re delighted!  The buzz word being FREE.  You may not be in the position to offer free trials, but it’s the small gestures that count.  Maybe you could offer different payment schemes (instalments) or an interest free period?

Koogar, for example, offers a 1 hour FREE consultation with any service, no strings attached so your questions are answered, you get to know a bit more about us, but you don’t have to commit to us.  If you prefer a different company that’s fine, although we hope you’d choose us of course!

Marketing Tip #11: Email Signatures

An email signature is an effective way of maintaining your company’s professionalism when corresponding with clients.  The signature can include your company name, contact details, logos and a message at the end.

Having an email signature also saves you time when responding to clients as all you need to say is ‘contact me’ or ‘you’ll find our address details below.’  However, email signatures can also help promote and spread your company’s message or ethics.

For example, Koogar asks at the end of every email if you need to print it out in order to decrease paper wastage and therefore we uphold an environmental message.

What does your email signature say about your business?

Marketing Tip #10: Surveys

An effective way of measuring your marketing and test an individual product/service is by creating a survey, which clients can fill in after purchasing something from you.  Customer Service survey’s are popular throughout many companies, but you can create one for any aspect of your business.

It is important to let your customers know their opinions are important to you and it’s important for you to know how successful the different areas of your business are.

Some companies offer rewards for completing a survey, as most customers tend to ignore them (unless you tell them about it prior to sending it).  However, you could offer a prize to one customer by placing their surveys in a prize draw.  For example, Koogar attended an enterprising networking event and at the end was asked to fill in a questionnaire about the day; there was a prize draw for £100 of Amazon vouchers!

Marketing Tip #9: Brand Image

How is your Brand Image? It has been proven that the feelings and images we associate with a brand are extremely powerful and influential when we purchase something.  It means we associate buying a certain product with certain feelings and images of ourselves.

For example, if you bought a Gucci handbag with Gucci across the front it could make you feel important, fashionable, professional etc.  Or, if you’re gentleman (and Gucci handbags are not your thing) then if you’ve bought an Armani suit or a Tiltleist driver for instance, how would you feel?

Basically, to know whether your brand is strong you need to ask people what they think of when you mention your business name and product.

If they say anything which is not linked to an emotion or image such as cost and if responses vary considerably then your brand is weak.

I’ll leave you with this thought…what do you immediately think of if I say yellow capital ‘M’?  The majority of people would think of McDonald’s, which shows how popular, well known and strong the brand is.

So how strong is your brand…?
