Which camp do you sit in?
Are you on the side where you don’t believe in the reviews you read, or on the side where you do?
Either way reviews, testimonials and feedback are one of the stages that EVERYONE goes through, when in the buying process. They want to see what others have said about it, what others think about it so they can then make up their own mind about the product or service they are about to buy.
I say, “about to buy” because testimonials are within not one but two of the steps we have identified in the buying process.
You need to think about what moves you to act and make the next step in buying the thing that you want?
The 5 stages of the buying process are:
- Needs
- Information Research < this is where testimonials and reviews come in
- Evaluation of alternatives < and again here…
- Purchase
- Post Purchase Evaluation
So how can you make it easier for a client to leave you a Google Review?
Step 1
Make sure you are on Google Local Business
Visit this link – https://www.google.com/business/ and click “Start Now”. It will take you through a step by step process to get your business to be visible on Google. Click this link to see what ours looks like.
Step 2
Create an easy to use Google Review URL for your customers
I’ve created a video to show you HOW to do this so all you have to do is send your client a link.
Step 3
Ask for the testimonial or review!
Send your client an email AFTER they have experienced you, your product or your service.
What I mean by this is don’t ask for a review straight away. You need to give them time to have taken stock after they have used your product or service, so they know and more importantly can feel the difference now they have what they bought from you.
To get a better understanding of this read the book by Andy Bounds called “The Jelly Effect” (Link to buy The Jelly Effect from Amazon) it should be on my recommended reading list, so I shall add it.
We send an email something like this…
It was great working with you at [company name] and I’m glad I was able to give you [add what you, your product or service promised your client].
If you have a few minutes today, we would love to get your feedback on your experience of working with me at [company name] as a review on Google. Follow the link and leave your review here – https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=ChIJlfcv9eAme0gR7IlrOfqbfG0
*Remember to change the bold bits for your own wording.
This is the easy link you are now able to create in Step 2.
We now have 12 5 star reviews on Google since doing this and always ask our clients to leave one when they have time.
Let us know how you get on!
I followed Amanda’s video above and put the link to review our business on Google on an email to some of our customers and had three 5* star reviews overnight. I will keep using the link in my emails and social media. Its a great way to get feedback quickly so people are much more likely to do it. Thank you! Liz, Director of Skill Supply Ltd.
Perfect Liz and well done for taking action with it! #googlereviews
As a marketer at a law firm, testimonials are of particular importance to me and the business. Law is a business built on trust – so positive reviews and in depth case studies (from the proverbial horse’s mouth) are incredibly valuable.
Suffice it to say; sending emails to clients which contained a laborious and esoteric method for leaving a Google review – has been frustrating. I have been sat many times at my desk wishing that it could be easier – “why don’t they just provide a link!!?”
So finding this out has been an absolute godsend. I can guarantee that this will have a directly positive impact on our business. Thanks!
