We are over half way through the year… so how are you getting on?

Where has the time gone?

I just cannot believe we are nearly at the end of August, can you?

Its that time of year where we are starting to think about the “C” word and how we are doing compared to last year… Are we up, down or have we stayed the same…

A friend and I meet every August for a full day each year and this year we met in Chester. We both run businesses even though they are very different and have been going roughly the same amount of time.

We sauntered around the shops, got caught in the bustle of the weekend traffic and stopped to have some lunch in a nice little French place on Bridge Street.

During our lunch we asked each other… “So what is different from last year?” And we both said we have been marketing our businesses a lot more, understand our markets that little better and are ready to go to the next level (for all of us that level will be different).

We decided to treat ourselves to something very special as we have worked hard over the years and said, by this time next year we will both have… the thing(s) we wanted. We even scoured the Chester high street for the perfect reward before we carried on our day. Once they had been found, we tried them on so we knew how they would feel when we had them and if they were “the ones“…

We then walked the wall until we got to the River Dee, stopped and had a double scoop ice cream while sitting watching the ducks on the water. When we’d finished, we carried on walking through the park sitting for a while to take in the sun and have more good conversation and then out the other side to finish the sunny day with a nice latte.

We have a goal for next year that I’m sure I’m going to smash before then. Its great to have a goal as you have something to strive for. Putting plans in place to ensure you reach it and having a buddy to do it with helps you along the way to keep on track.

Id like to hear what you have done this summer whilst taking some time out. Leave a comment below and let me know what you have been up to and what you would like to achieve for next year…

Saying it out loud to someone else makes it real…
