LET’S TALK ABOUT : Racism, bias and opportunity… This is a subject I never really spoke about openly until the death of George Floyd. It was mainly to do with being embarrassed (and upset, but not shocked) that these things happen to me, so I didn’t speak about it, which meant it wasn’t real, it didn’t really happen. But it is real and it does happen. I have experienced it recently and in new ways, which is the part that has got to me talking about it today. Bias starts with you not looking or sounding how someone expects you to, which has been a thing I have carried most of my life. Especially when I moved to the UK. I wasn’t what people expected. What I have researched on over the years, is types of people, archetypes, characteristics, behaviours, words and tone. Something I've really dug deep into was credibility and what do I need to have or do to be credible? Write a book, make millions? Credibility starts with bias and how other people’s brains perform when they first meet you. If you don’t have the criteria they assumed you should have, EVEN if you have evidence of knowledge, skill and experience, it's first based on your look. That will be the moment of if (not when) they (an audience, your audience and people) will listen to you. Let me say that again IF they will listen to you. One of the top elements people look for is relevance and how relevant you are to them. We all have bias in some way shape or form, which is about being in favour of something or not. This year, I asked to speak on a large stage and was told “You are the right colour and gender and tick the boxes, but you don’t make enough money, so the answer is no.” WOW I thought to myself – “Did he hear what he just said to me AND did he just say that out loud”? I’ve also recently attended a networking meeting who talked about wanting more diversity in the room, and they actually meant diverse types of business from different places in the UK, not the type of diversity I brought to that table that day. 86% MORE : Customer experience is not... ... just 86% MORE : Customer experience is not... ... just delivering a good service or products that work for people or constantly asking for referrals over and over, which actually leads you to exhaust the people you are working with and them moving away from you because you're all about the money. This is about going over and above anything you’ve ever done before. 5 Star businesses don’t happen overnight. They happen because they are committed to mastering what they do and staying in their lane. It’s also not about automating everything, so you exclude the human to the point of them feeling unheard or valued. This isn’t about having a hidden agenda by giving more, you’ll get more, because that energy is not only off, but also felt. Finally it is not either about saying the words or using them in your marketing, it’s about living and breathing them as actions speak louder than words. The statistics say that 86% of buyers, customer, clients are willing to pay more for a great customer experience. What does this mean? It means the people and companies who are already working with you need more from you. Need to be heard. They need to KNOW you care and not just say it. It means that they want things to be really easy and for everything to happen seamlessly. A customer journey refers to the path of interactions an individual has with your brand, products and/or services. A customer experience is your customers' holistic perception of their experience with your business or brand. THEIR perception of their experience, not yours. Positive customer experience is a way of standing out head and shoulders above your competitors. Customer loyalty is less about what I call 'holy shit' moments and more about being dependable and making things easy for customers, so they know they can come to you and speak to you about their thoughts and opinions without being shut down, ignored or judged. If you add ANYTHING into your marketing strategy for 2024, let it be a customer journey which also brings customer experience into play and stop with the pricing wars and comparison offers. STOP SHRINKING : Because that's what they want! T STOP SHRINKING : Because that's what they want! There are people out there who will tell you to do the opposite of what you are capable because they are threatened by you. There are people who will steal your content, methodology, words and clients because they are too lazy to create their own business. There are people who want you to stay small, play small and forget who you are because it means their bank balance gets bigger and their control over you goes deeper. Over this last week, I have seen the actions these people, listened to the words they told me to my face and heard the ones spoken behind my back. What they didn't count on was that although what I've heard and seen hurt, my character is much stronger because I know who I am. Be careful who you share your ideas, dreams and ambitions with, as there are people who want to crush you. Make sure you spend more time with people who lift you, believe in you and actually want you to succeed. Because when you stop shrinking to fit into someone else's box, you can make much more impact on yourself and those who truly see you. As @deionsanders said... I joined a photography subscription with @alifordphoto so that my imagery, photos and brand became more like me, and what a journey it has been. Most of the time, I don't want to go, however, you and I know the magic is made outside your comfort zone. Once I'm there, the fear starts to melt away. Ali is very easy to work with, she finds you amongst your stuff and captures your essence well. For me, this is more than just photography, it's self-discovery. Being visible isn't just hard for my clients. It’s something I carry too and I work on every day. I know where it comes from and why it's here, however, I'm using my time in this space to rediscover who I really am, what I want from my life and business and to visualise the path I'm about to take. I'm not like most people. I'm deep, unapologetic and real. I see your truth through what you share, hear the frequency of your words and know, like me, you want more. We all have to do the work if we are to get the connection, self-acceptance, and acknowledgement that we seek. "The work" I talk about is different for us all. Some going into the depths is what they need, while for others the surface is sometimes too much to bare. Work out what will help you become visible and do it your way. Some are on different levels to you and some much further ahead - mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally... Understanding where you are on your journey is the most important thing. Comparing yourself to others when most don't share their real selves is unrealistic. Meet yourself where you are in this very moment, so your plans, goals and dreams feel more attainable instead of too far away. Business is the same as awakening... HIDING : In the shadows... The phrase "put yourse HIDING : In the shadows... The phrase "put yourself out there" is often thrown around, encouraging business owners to be bold, visible and assertive. However, for spiritual entrepreneurs, this advice can be easier said than done. The path of a spiritual entrepreneur involves unique challenges and energies that must be navigated, and sometimes, the desire to hide in the shadows is more compelling. I feel this and know this to be true, not only for myself, but also for my people. The Hurdles we face... 1. Vulnerability and Authenticity: Messages of authenticity are shared, however, this places you in a position where you're expected to embody these principles in your own life. The fear of not living up to these ideals can be paralyzing. 2. Fear of Judgment: The spiritual path can be deeply personal. Many have faced scepticism or judgment from those who don't understand their journey or what they do. The fear of being misunderstood or ridiculed can make you hesitant to step into the spotlight and “blow your own trumpet”. 3. Energy Sensitivity: Are you highly sensitive to energy and emotions? This sensitivity can make you feel overwhelmed by what’s happening in the business world, often driven by competition, materialism and external success. Why Is It So Difficult? Be careful of the things you say out loud and internally because most of the time, it comes out (of your mouth) more negatively than you think. Many conversations I have, people share secrets, feelings, beliefs and thoughts and don't realise how it comes out. Most of the time, I'll repeat what they say and I get back... "Yeah, but that's not really what I meant"... Or... "Yeah that's how I feel..." Feelings cannot be denied. I believe words are like spells. Whatever you say out loud becomes real.
