What is a Target Audience?
The target audience is a SPECIFIC set of customers who have been identified by a company. They have similar needs, wants, desires or problems that the company feels they can resolve with their products or services.
As they can solve the problems the client is experiencing, companies WILL target this set of people with their marketing communications in the hope of converting these potential leads into customers.
It is therefore ESSENTIAL to understand who your target audience is, demographically, geo-demographically, psychographically and behaviourally as this enables you to create relevant marketing communications to effectively engage with your target audience.
How can you create one?
One way in which many companies ensure all employees have an in-depth understanding of the target audience, is through the creation of customer profiles.
These profiles are often very detailed personas that outline the demographics of the individual such as their age, gender, income etc. as well as a number of psychographic and behavioural elements.
