Recession proof your business!

What do we currently know?

We know that we are in a recession and businesses start to tighten up on a few things. Marketing and Training are the first things to go out of the window, would you agree?

These are two things we don’t think we need to keep on top of while money is tight and other things rise on our “To Do Lists”, like the work!

Recently attended a seminar and the Council spokes person mentioned that companies who do not Market their companies or Train their staff when in a recession can potentially go under.

At Koogar, I’m keeping up to date with training on Digital Marketing as I will be flying to Amsterdam tomorrow night. I’m attending the iStrategy Conference which is about Global Digital Marketing and how to monetize it.

iStrategy is an inspirational, two-day, digital media conference for senior executives who believe that the success of their business requires a sound digital strategy. More about the event

Knowledge isnt power, its what you do with the knowledge!

I have wanted to attend this for a while and I believe I’ll come back with lots of new knowledge and ideas that I will share with you once I’m back and have digested it all.

So, one thing to help keep your company going through these tough times is to train yourself as well as staff members so you and  they can handle enquires, customers, and products in the right way showing your company in the right light!

What could you learn today?

Social Media for Artists

Last Friday was spent in the company of Liverpool based Artists.

From Photographers, to Jewellery Makers and Painters. Even Digital Visual Artists attended the workshop. The reason why they attended was because they wanted to learn more about selling their work, bring more awareness to what they do and understand which platform they should be on.

Dot Art LogoIt was a pleasure to train these Artists for Dot Art. It took me back to when I was in College; life drawing, learning about photography, etching, soldering in metal workshop and Art History.

Love it and every now and again during the workshop I wished I was back in college; getting my hands covered in paint, or glue from making something for a week long brief from our tutors…

Being creative in business is for everyone, not just for artists or designers. As creatives and business owners we need to work out how to do things differently compared to other companies and competitors within our industries.

At Koogar HQ we are creating all the time; for ourselves and our clients, which is actually one of Koogars mission statements.

Koogar will be creatively producing:

  • Products
  • For our clients
  • People

Delivering this workshop ticked this box. We have 4 mission statements and whatever we do we make sure 3 out of 4 are ticked! By having these statements helps us be the best we can be for ourselves and the people we work with.

I have a personal project which I am one step closer to with the help from Lucy (owner of Dot Art). When the project starts it will be photographed and filmed along the way.

I would like to thank Dot Art for giving us the opportunity to work with their Artists and help them sell their Art in the latest way using technology and Social Media. It has inspired me to be even more creative, take more time over work and think about what we are putting out there for our clients.

When was the last time you were creative in business?

Manchester Social Media Workshop (24/2)

We held a Social Media Workshop in Manchester City Centre yesterday with the help of YSes. They found us the right building and venue for the job and also recommended a great catering company last minute to supply the lunch for my delegates and myself. So I must say a BIG thank you to Ruth and Natalie. If your looking for locations to run workshops, then you must speak to these girls!

The workshop its self went really well. There were only a few delegates so we got the take our time a little more and concentrate on their businesses more which in turn helped them work out that they can actually help each other with their own Social Media strategies.

What one of the delegates said about the day;

I have three things I’m going to take away from today’s workshop:

  • How to have a coordinated Social Media strategy
  • How to use Twitter
  • How to use of Tweetdeck and Hootsuite

I came away feeling excited and inspired! I have enjoyed it all, especially the interaction!

So, if you want to walk away with the same knowledge we have more workshops happening throughout the year. Feel free to contact us and let us know what your struggling with, so we can help you have a working digital marketing strategy.

NetworkShe and Koogar

Koogar are pleased to announce that in 2011 we are now working with NetworkShe. NetworkShe is a women’s only networking organisation based in North Wales. They hold events on a regular basis and also have their own magazine which is free; you can advertise in it and or have an editorial!

NetworkShe and Koogar got together and realised that there are still people out there that are unsure of Social Media. There are people who need a little help to get their profile up-to-date, need help to understand what the jargon means and which platform is suitable for them.

Please see our new training page for these hands-on Social Media Workshops.

We are very excited about working with NetworkShe. If you haven’t been to their events then your missing out! Check out their website www.networkshe.co.uk

2011 Workshops and Webinars

Well over the last few weeks we have been working on our Marketing Plan for 2011 and hope you have been doing the same!

If you have a plan of growing bigger and reaching more people during 2011 then I think you might like to take a look at what we are doing in the New Year!

Workshops

We have planned a series of workshops during 2011 on Social Media and training up to 120 during our group sessions. If you have been thinking about Social Media and have the following questions, you should attend:

  • Not to sure what it is, but think its something we should look at…
  • I know a little bit about it and could do with knowing more…
  • How do I target my market more effectively instead of scatter-gunning my marketing?
  • I want to understand whats available to me and how I make a start.
  • I would like to do it but I’m not sure I have the time?

All of these questions and more will be answered during the full day of training (Introductory offer of £199 per person) which includes lunch and no more than 12 people attending each workshop, which enables tailoring for your business. For more information, visit: www.koogartraining.co.uk

Our workshops are in different locations around the Northwest and a few in other areas of the UK.

Webinars

We have also written a series of webinars that will help you understand Marketing and what you can do. A lot of people are unsure of Marketing and how it can help your business grow. I have people telling me; “It doesn’t work”, “It’s too expensive…” and a lot of other things.

Well here is your chance to listen into a webinar and gain more information and understanding without leaving the comfort of your own home or office. A webinar is  done online and you will also get a copy of it so you can listen to it in the future.

Each webinar is £9.99 per person and you will receive handouts before the webinar for you to fill in while listening, helping you create a list of things you could do for the future of your business.

For more information on the webinars, please visit: http://www.koogartraining.co.uk/1-hour-webinars-2011/

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us on 0844 811 8464 or email Amanda at info@koogar.co.uk.

FREE Marketing Workshop!

Marketing: What, How & When

Many peoples’ perception of marketing is that it is too expensive, a waste of money and resource and it doesn’t work. However, marketing is essential if you want your business to succeed.

Therefore, because of all the negativity surrounding marketing Koogar & Azzure Marketing have teamed up and organised another FREE Marketing forum this time in Nantwich, which will discuss marketing and the importance of not only using it, but using it effectively.

Effective marketing can:

  • Be the difference between a potential client choosing your business over your competitors.
  • Help to sustain as well as grow your business.
  • Save you money and time – if done properly of course!

The FREE 4 hour event will consist of two speakers, detailed below, with the chance for questions and networking.

Amanda Daniels (Koogar):

‘Attracting New Clients’ - The key information you need for a successful online presence.

Julie Webb (Azzure Marketing):

‘Promoting your Business’ - Understanding your business position to target your customers, using the right marketing tools.

Event details: Marketing: What, How & When

I know Kung Fu!

In the Matrix, Neo is updated within seconds when he needs or wants to know something new because his situation has changed.

Within your industry… how often do things change and what changes?

When it does change what do you do about it? Do you go on courses, read up with PDP (Personal Development Plan) time.
Do you make sure you do this once a month?
How often do you get updated?

Koogar recently attended a Web Seminar called Speak the Web held in Liverpool but also at various locations around the North.

I have always wanted to attend a web seminar which is where designers, developers, programmers and others find out about whats happening now within the Internet/digital and design. The latest code to use, the latest design styles, programmes available, best practises and how others do things.

I was very nervous when I got there, didn’t know what to expect but by the time I had left I had a ton of new ideas, things to go and check out and try out too! I was so excited I cant tell you… I just wanted to pop!

I also won a book by Paul Boag a guy I have been following for a while (in terms of podcasts and blogs).

Since this experience I want to be the best person, designer and business owner I can be even more than before!

Simon Collinson who was one of the speakers of the night REALLY inspired me! Again Simon is another person I have been following for years and there he was in front of me, delivering a talk and explaining his philosophy of work and ethics.

I would highly recommend going to a seminar held for your industry, you WILL pick up ideas, meet some new people and you may even win a prize like I did. I will be going again if they hold it and have also decided to attend a few GeekUps in my area (Chester and Liverpool). My advice to you is read more, go back to basics and most importantly enjoy what your doing and have fun!

So, what do you do to keep up with the latest trends within your industry?
You don’t want to fall behind now, do you…
